SINKING HOUSE
Winner of the AJ100 Collaboration of the Year Award 2022
In the autumn of 2021 I was asked by Stride Treglown architects to collaborate with them on a project called ‘Sinking House’ which was to be installed in the run up to the COP 26 Climate Summit in Glasgow.
The idea was to illustrate the threat of flooding by placing a ‘sinking house’ in an iconic location in the middle of Bath, and my job was to provide a figure to sit on the roof of the house.
The collaboration was an ‘all hands on deck’ type affair with a tight deadline and tighter budget, but as is so often the case when everyone pulls together, we managed it just in time.
Whether our ‘intervention’ made any difference in the attempt to raise awareness about the climate emergency we will never know… but because of the iconic location it had press interest worldwide.
